Area:
Use area width of penalty area. line cones to define area for shooting. Put 2 gates with halfway back between edge of area and halfway line as shown. Set up 2 mannequins as shown so one side of the goal is more exposed.
Equipment:
Cones, poles, mannequins, balls
Objective:
The red team will pass to the blues to shoot and the blues will pass to the reds to shoot. Once you have taken your shot queue at the other side. Each side will take alternate goes.
Shooting from the left (for right footed player)
The shooting practice is designed to specifically shoot by opening up the body and shooting across the goal keeper or shifting the ball to the side to achieve the same thing. The blue player passing needs to execute a good through pass so the red shooting player can take minimal touches to shoot. They should pass to just outside the area in the shaded area.
Shooting from the right (right footed player)
The angle shooting from the right for a right footed player is very diffrent. To shoot across the goal keeper you need to drive/arrow the ball straight with the laces. A sidefoot finnish on this side will most likely casue the ball to curl away from the goal.
If the player is left footed then the same rules will aply but from the opposite side.
Progression/simplify:
Use a real goal keeper.
Key points:
Shooting accross the keeper is best practice in most situations unless the goal keeper is central or off their post. If you shoot across and the keeper saves, they will probably push the ball back into a dangerous area which a team mate can gamble and score on a rebound/follow up.
(left side) Encourage the player to bend their approach if they are opening up their body to curl into the far corner across the goal keeper or shift the ball with final touch to right side of the body to curl accross to the far side.
(Right side)
Encourage players to either take final touch before shooting to right side of body to execute a driven shot. If you haven't moved the ball enough to the right side of the goal then the driven pass would also go wide. Moving the ball away from goal on this side would draw the goal keeper to their left side making them unbalanced which will increase the chance of scoring.
(Both sides)
Get your head up between touches (especialy final touch before shooting) and look at goalkeepers position and set your sights to execute the shot you are trying to perform.

Objective:
red player passes to blue then spins into the channel. Blue player plays through ball to the red player then runs into the box. The red player crosses and the blue player shoots. The next time the blue player starts the pass and the players copy the routine but on the opposite side so the red player ends up shooting. Players return to opposite sides after their wave.
Progression:
Put restrictions in place for your aims. time limit or touch limit on player striking. Limit on speed/touches on player crossing.
Key points:
Ephasise speed of play, getting head up and minimal touches. Shooting player to bend approach and crossing player to rake big touch and look up to improve accuracy.
